Karamouzis Michalis (Michael) MD, MSc, PhD:

Michalis V. Karamouzis is currently Associate Professor in the Medical School, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. Prof Karamouzis is a Medical Oncologist specialized and treating patients with gastrointestinal cancers, genitourinary and aerodigestive carcinomas. Besides his clinical work he has organized a Molecular Oncology Unit. He is working on cell tissue cultures with human cancer cell lines, establishing a strong research program and creating a highly skilled and competent research group. He has also formed collaborations with well-established cancer research scientists. Prof. Karamouzis’ lab advanced in the proximity ligation assay technique that can evaluate dimerization of two proteins as well as enhance the signal of low abundant proteins in situ. Additionally, he is working on improving immunotherapy result and identifying predictive biomarkers in aerodigestive carcinomas. At the moment, the lab occupies one Post Doc as lab manager and researcher and many PhD students.
Prof. Michalis Karamouzis’ national and international recognition counts communications in National and International conferences. He has also participated in round tables and invited and gave lectures in National and International conferences. He has more than 100 publications in international peer-reviewed journals listed in SCI which carry a sum of 647.929 impact factor and a mean impact factor of 7.042. His publications have achieved until now more than 3000 citations. The H-index is 28.
Prof Karamouzis has also served as a reviewer for many peer-reviewed international journals (such as Ann Oncol, J Clin Oncol, Breast Cancer Res, Eur J Cancer, Lancet Oncol, Cancer Metastasis Rev, and many others). He has also served as an evaluator of scientific project proposals, both national and international. He is an active ESMO Member participating in Practicing Oncologists Committee, Publication Working Group and others.

 Athanasios Botsonis is currently a biology teacher in Secondary Education and a board member of IMBE. He graduated from the Biology Department of the School of Science and Technology of the University of Crete. He received his Ph.D degree from the School of Medicine of the University of Athens as a scholarship holder of the State Scholarships Foundation. He specialized in the study of minimal residual disease in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia. At the same time he was trained in the Institute of Technology and Research of the University of Crete and held theoretical and laboratory lectures in pediatric oncology to medical students and intern pediatricians. He participated in studies of childhood cancer with methods of molecular biology and in research programs of the Hematology/Oncology Unit of the 1st Pediatric Clinic of the University of Athens.

Papatsoris Athanasios MD, MSc, PhD:

Prof. Athanasios Papatsoris graduated from Patras School of Medicine with an honorary scholarship and from the same University he obtained a MSc . His PhD thesis iwas completed in the 2nd Department of Urology of Athens University. He was trained in Urology in London and in Athens, where he was certified as a Urological Surgeon. Thereafter, in London, he completed a two year Endourology fellowship Also, he completed a clinical fellowship in laparoscopy in Le Mans, France, supported by the EUSP. Furthermore, for one year he served as an honorary Consultant in Urology at Royal London Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust. Now he holds honorary contracts at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge and Imperial College, London. He obtained his FEBU degree in 2007 and since then he is an examiner and the last years the Vice Chairman of the EBU Examination Committee.
Since 2017, Dr Papatsoris is an Assoc. Professor of Urology at the 2nd Department of Urology, School of Medicine, Sismanoglio General Hospital, Athens Greece. Moreover, he is an Assoc. Board member of ESOU (Prostate Cancer Committee), EULIS, ESUT, SEGUR and U-Merge. He is the EBU and the SIU National Delegate, uCARE SIU Board member and SIU Academy Endourology Board member. Also, the last four years he was Secretary of the HUA, Vice Chairman of the Section of Endourology – Laparoscopy, while now he is the Secretary General of the Section of Oncological Urology. Furthermore, he is a Board member of the IMBE and the Secretary General of the HGUCC. Prof. Papatsoris H-Index is 33 with 168 publications in PubMed with more than 3300 citations. He is a member of the Editorial Board of more than 30 medical journals and he has been invited as faculty in many international congresses, workshops, intensive courses and live Endourology surgeries. Lastly, this year he won the “Arthur Smiht” award from the Endourological Society.
